Jacob, my 16 year old son, and his friend Bobby are in the gym at the Yellow Box with Shawn Williams. They are trying to shoot from half court, actually more like 3/4 court. They have been trying for a while, and of course nobody is making any shots. So Jake and Bobby say, "hey Shawn, if you make it, we will donate $75 each for a kid to go to BLAST." Shawn agrees this is a good idea. The rules are, Shawn has two shots. So Shawn gets ready to take his first shot, and he says.... "Jesus, help more kids go to blast." He shoots and ........SWOOOOOSH. He makes it. Jake and Bobby are in for $75 each and a high school kid who wasn't able to afford to go to blast, goes to BLAST.

Well it was done three days after it was started, which is a good thing since it rained a lot this week. We had lots of great help from friends and we are so grateful. Here is Scott and Don with Don's new invention that he created from garage scraps. It is a shingle carrier. You use it to get those heavy shingle packets up on the roof. Scott would load up the shingle "backpack" and Don would go up the ladder and lean over to "dismount" the shingle pack off his back. It was hilarious. I think Don is going to make a lot of money off this thing. You saw it here first the Don Kajawski shingle carrier 2000...unless you have a better name for it. Please share.
We removed 40 years worth of roof shingles today. Now if it doesn't rain until Tuesday, that would be good.
I must have said "don't fall off the roof" about a million times today. To which the boys would reply, "Why? It's not THAT high."
So of course, just to make me crazy, when I go and take the picture, Mitchell is doing his "look mom, only one foot!" pose. Ahrrrgh!
I am so proud of the Haines family in Rwanda. Talk about Finding Life. Check them out. Haines African Adventure. There are over 30 people from community christian church going to Rwanda this summer on short term mission trips to serve people who have seen more then their fair share of hardship and poverty. Way to go friends.
