I managed to Escape

I did it ...  I escaped my messy house with laundry to be folded and dishes waiting in the sink.  I left my kids to figure out their own homework times, practice piano on their own and rely on Dad for dinner.  I just left.  Yep, it's true.

I left to sit in Borders bookstore and write.  I have a project I have been delaying for 4 months and now is the time to get to it....so here I go, until Borders closes and then again tomorrow as soon as the library opens.  I am no longer procrastinating.... although I am blogging and facebooking, which is a slight form of procrastination. 

Anyhow, I promised my small group a deliverable and a deliverable they will get.

I am now on facebook!! How cool am I? I have 15 friends, that is pathetic....help me out, become my friend.

John the B's high and low of the week

We laughed tonight.  Mostly about John the Baptist and locusts and imagining chocolate instead of honey.  We pictured John the Baptist at our small group...what would be his high and low of the week?  A baptism as a high and a beheading as a low.....

There was laughing and accountability.  Here's what Terry said:  "So based on your goals this week, what are the deliverables we can expect from you next Tuesday?"  And he said that to ME!  I have a feeling I will be getting my butt in gear this week, since my group is expecting DELIVERABLES.  How's that for accountability? 

Ooops. What happens in small group stays in small group.  Does that mean we don't post small group quotes on our blogs?

I love my small group.

What a Difference a Year Makes

Pictures by the front door on the 1st day of school has been a tradition in our house for 12 years now.  Jake, a High School Senior, Mitch a high school freshman and Judiann, a 3rd grader.  Last year the first day of school was so weird.  A BRAND new school for everyone.  I will never forget Jake getting in the car after school and saying he ate lunch alone.  Yuck!  Well, what a difference a year makes.  The night before school while checking their schedules, Mitch and Jake realize they have the same lunch period.  They high five each other.  At the end of the day, the question came "who did you eat lunch with?"  The answer sounded like a list of who's who of some of the school's nicest kids (and some pretty girls too, I might add.)  Answered prayer? I would say so.
