- Here are some scary things that church planting has forced me to do:
- Set up random meetings with community leaders and ask them about the needs of this community.
- Go to PTA meetings
- Meet at least one new person everyday
- Become a fund-raiser
- Ask strangers what they think of the name "restore community church."
- Be the "craft mom" at the Halloween party for a class full of 2nd graders.
- Go door to door with grocery bags asking the community to partner with us in replenishing the supplies of the Kansas City rescue mission.
Doesn't God realize I am an introvert?
Although scary...I must admit, it is a THRILL. Perhaps that is why people like scary movies...you go there, you know it is going to freak you out for a sec, but then when it is over there is this adrenaline thing.
You don't have to be a church planter to do this stuff. I wish I would have pushed myself harder on some of these things before I became a church planter. Just the thrill is worth the risk and then the thrill is multiplied when God shows up in the risk.
Try it..."do one thing everyday that scares you."
You are so not an introvert!!! You forgot one thing -
Painting your entryway a deep red!!! You did it and that makes you a brave extrovert!
Keep up the "God Work" you are doing in K.C.
Love you lots
Mom

taht is just plain good stuff. we were talking about destiny in our small group tonight - soul cravings big idea (duh!) - and we talked about what would leave us satisfied at the end of our lives...this is an inspiring question, but your blog nails it. thanks!

these colors on your blog tell me you're NOT an introvert--at least when it comes to color

I commnend you Janet! You are a bold Christ follower! Going where no one dare to go except called by God! You are a lion chaser, a woman willing to jump into a pit if the need is to bag a lion as well as a woman willing to stand on the edge of the ledge and to jump if God signals! What a joy to see you go for God! Love and prayers, Belinda
PS I think there was a young man in the New Testament like that!
